Shinjuku/Mejiro/ North Tokyo
Some people says that Shinjuku is actual center of Tokyo, and that could be true. The Shinjuku station has over 3.1 million passengers everyday. The surrounding of the station is full of excitement with huge shopping mall such as Isetan department store in the east exit and skyscraper buildings of the east exit, including the City Office.
Seijou/Meidaimae/Shimokitazawa
Well known as wealthy area for Japanese, the Northern Setagaya ward contains two fine residential area, Seijou and Shimo-kitazawa, along Odakyu-Line and Keiou Line. Seijou had been the residence of famous movie director Kurosawa, attracting other famous Japanese.
Shimo-kitazawa is the spot for young creative energies with gathering of small shops, theaters, music places just going to be borne, while the area itself is surrounded by quiet residential area of Daizawa.
Choufu/Kichijoji/West Tokyo
The west Tokyo tends to be favored by expatriates seeking more local style living in Japan. Along Chuou line of JR, Kichijouji is only 17min from Shinjuku, and contains enthusiastic shopping area in mix of large and small local shops. Even more, there is the Inokashira Park which you can enjoy boating, appreciate displays in the natural museum, and view cherry blossom in spring.
